Wizards of the Coast has revealed Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, a new Magic: The Gathering set releasing on 9 April 2027. Built around an original Marvel story, it brings a supernatural conflict to the card table, with products for multiplayer groups, drafting and collectors.

An original Marvel story
The reveal took place at New York Comic Con on 9 October, with GamingTrend reporting the announcement that evening. Wizards published its own set announcement on 10 October.
Rather than simply revisiting an existing comic storyline, Marvel and Wizards have developed a new narrative for the set. GamingTrend’s report identifies Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela and Dormammu as its four central characters, with the story unfolding across nearly 30 dimensions.
Wizards also confirms Magik among the characters appearing. A companion comic by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly will introduce a new character, with a digital release planned for February 2027 and a physical edition in April. Those comic dates are separate from the card set’s 9 April release.
What players can choose
The official product page lists several ways to play. Booster Packs are designed for Limited play, while Commander decks provide a route into multiplayer games.
For a group of four, Draft Night is a boxed Pick-Two draft experience. Wizards says it includes the materials needed for the draft and a Collector Booster for the winner. That makes it the product most directly aimed at arranging a single draft night with friends.
The regular Bundle contains nine Booster Packs, a mechanically unique Mythic Rare promotional card, five full-art Strange Places basic lands and an oversized Spindown die. A separate Arcanum Bundle offers eight packs, a Collector Booster, Bifrost lands and its own promotional cards.
Collectors also have foil-focused products and two Scene Boxes to consider: Assault on Asgard and Skirmish at the Sanctum. Each assembles six borderless cards into a larger scene.
Release and preorders
Wizards lists preorders through local game stores, TCGplayer and Amazon. Its announcement does not establish a single worldwide price or guarantee that every retailer carries every product, so players should check their local seller’s listing and delivery terms.
Commander decks suit multiplayer sessions; Draft Night is aimed at a four-person draft. Check the eventual card lists before choosing products for an existing collection.
