Treecer has launched Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game – Dinosaur Digs on Kickstarter, offering a standalone dinosaur park-building game for one to four players. The campaign opened on 3 November 2026 and has already passed its funding goal, with standard copies priced at CHF 85 and deluxe copies at CHF 109.

The new development is the opening of crowdfunding, rather than the game's first reveal. The creator's launch updates confirm the start date, while Cards Realm's launch-day report independently reports the campaign and its main pledges.

At a glance

  • Dinosaur Digs is a standalone physical game for 1–4 players; the original Zoo Tycoon board game is not required.
  • Standard and deluxe pledges cost CHF 85 and CHF 109 respectively, before shipping.
  • Crowdfunding ends on 3 December 2026 at 23:59 CET; fulfilment is expected to begin in July 2027.

Fossils, cloning and park safety

The campaign's gameplay overview describes seven rounds, each divided into four seasons. Players first send workers to gather resources, including dinosaur cards, fossils, DNA and technology. Summer brings fossil decoding and cloning, followed by an autumn building phase in which dinosaurs move into their enclosures.

Species have different needs for space, landscaping and group size. They also carry different risks, making safety part of park management. Winter combines income calculations with checks on whether the park has its dinosaurs under control; failures can cause accidents with consequences for later play.

Buildings provide another set of choices. Visitor facilities help the park's appeal and income, while worker buildings expand what players can do. Treecer says the design differs substantially from its existing Zoo Tycoon game, despite the shared park-building setting.

What the two editions include

The rewards page lists English or German copies for both main editions, with the language selected later in the pledge manager. Both include the campaign's stretch goals. The CHF 109 deluxe version adds double-sided screen printing to its 226 dinosaur meeples.

There are also bundles and separate additions for the older Zoo Tycoon games. Those extras should not be confused with requirements for Dinosaur Digs: its standalone format lets newcomers choose the dinosaur game on its own.

Delivery is still a forecast

Treecer expects fulfilment to start in July 2027. That is a production and shipping estimate, not a confirmed retail release date. Shipping is charged separately after the campaign through the pledge manager, and rewards are restricted to supported countries, so backers should check their destination and the campaign's shipping table before committing.

The campaign remains open until 3 December 2026 at 23:59 CET. Passing the funding goal establishes that it has attracted sufficient pledges; it does not remove the production risks or guarantee the estimated delivery schedule.
